Pet Portal ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Pet Portal mobile application and web platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. What Data We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account. We do not store your Google password.

Pet and Animal Profiles

You may create profiles for your pets, livestock, and farm animals. This includes names, species, breeds, dates of birth, photos, and any other details you choose to enter. All animal profile data is created and controlled by you.

Health Records

Pet Portal lets you store vaccination records, medication schedules, veterinary visit notes, weight logs, and other health information for your animals. This data is entered entirely by you and stored securely in your account.

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data such as which features you use, how often you open the app, and general device information (operating system, app version). This helps us understand how people use Pet Portal so we can improve it. We do not track your physical location.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Service delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve Pet Portal's features and functionality.
  • Account management: To authenticate your identity, manage your account, and communicate with you about service updates.
  • Product improvement: To analyze anonymized usage patterns and improve the user experience.
  • Support: To respond to your questions, feedback, and support requests.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not monetize your animal records in any way.

3. Data Sharing

We only share your data with third-party service providers who help us operate Pet Portal. These include:

  • Hosting provider (Vercel) for serving the application.
  • Database provider (Supabase) for securely storing your data.
  • Email provider (Resend) for sending transactional emails like password resets.
  • Authentication provider (Google) if you choose to sign in with Google.

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to provide their services to us. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

4. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can view all data associated with your account at any time within the app.
  • Export: You can export all of your data, including pet profiles, health records, and farm data, in a standard format.
  • Correction: You can edit or update any of your data at any time.
  • Deletion: You can delete individual records or your entire account. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), encrypted database storage, and secure authentication practices. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your information.

6. Children's Privacy

Pet Portal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@petportal.app and we will promptly delete the data.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Pet Portal uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to store your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. The web app uses local storage to enable offline functionality.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
